Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing–Timiskaming, today announced a FedNor investment of $265,000 in support of the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase (NOMS). The funds will allow the City of Temiskaming Shores to again establish the long-running NOMS pavilion at this year’s Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum convention, CIM Connect 2024. The pavilion will accommodate over 25 mining supply and services businesses and organizations from across Northern Ontario. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor.
The convention, which takes place May 12-15 in Vancouver, provides opportunities for participants to establish valuable commercial partnerships, explore and test products, and bring together industry professionals to engage in learning and discussions on how Canadians can strategically embrace innovation.
The NOMS pavilion will promote and further develop Northern Ontario’s mining reputation while encouraging mining development in the region. NOMS exhibitors will have opportunities for regional businesses and organizations to build relationships and collaborations; attract investments; showcase their technologies, products, and services; and learn about other technologies, products, services, and competitors.
Anticipated benefits of this investment include the creation of new sales and contracts, increased mining development in Northern Ontario, and the development and expansion of regional businesses, their products and services, and technologies.
