Les Compagnons des Francs Loisirs Cultural Programming Receives Federal Support.
June 30, 2022

The Government of Canada is committed to supporting our country's two official languages and continues to make strategic investments that strengthen and celebrate our linguistic duality. On Saturday, during the St. Jean Baptiste Day celebration in North Bay, the Honourable Anthony Rota, member of parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming revealed details of a $48,500 investment for a project at Les Compagnons, to enrich Francophone experiences for young children.

The funding will help the organization offer cultural programming for early childhood learning in and around North Bay. The project aims to broadcast a dozen interactive shows and workshops for children aged 2 to 5 in French-language daycare centres and for 100 to 150 children in public and catholic school boards in the region. Workshops on cultural and artistic creations, as well as the creation of works in French, with interesting points from North Bay and the surrounding area, will also be offered to program coordinators and emerging artists in the region.

The funding comes from the Department of Canadian Heritage, through the Official Languages Support Programs where the collective goal of these programs is to:

“Official Language Minority Communities are an integral part of our country’s social, cultural and economic fabric. By supporting businesses, municipalities and Francophone-led organizations in their efforts to develop, grow and diversify the economy, we are helping to strengthen Canada’s identity as a rich and diverse nation built on values of respect, equality and empowerment. It is important to continue to see the support and commitment from the Federal Government so these groups can continue providing these important events and projects for the people of Nipissing-Timiskaming.”

—Anthony Rota Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming

''We are thrilled to introduce our little ones to their culture through performances and activities tailored to them. Les Compagnons avec Les Garderies Soleil have an important mandate to participate in early childhood education, and this funding will help them to reach their goal!''
