The Temiskaming Art Gallery (TAG) in Haileybury is building a strategic and business plan and those goals will be assisted with an investment from FedNor of $32,570 to allow the gallery to complete their strategic plan.

The Hon. Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming says “This is an important investment for FedNor to make to ensure the Temiskaming Art Gallery can leverage more opportunities, increase their community initiatives, and grow their role in the communities economic sector.”

The funding is from FedNor’s Economic Development Initiative and will assist TAG in identifying partnerships and opportunities to advance economic and business development in the region.

Melissa La Porte, Executive Director, and Curator at the gallery said, “We are currently finalizing our strategic and business plans that will support the fiscal and institutional stability and health of the Temiskaming Art Gallery and Open Studio Libre as we continue to fulfill our mission to connect our community to art through the presentation, appreciation, and creation of creative works.”

Rota adds, “Museums have an important role to play in the economic recovery and vitality of our region. They help preserve and display works of art that represent the culture and the fabric of what makes our region unique to Canada. It is important for them to continue to see the support and commitment from the Federal Government so they can continue providing these important events and projects for the people of Nipissing-Timiskaming.”
