Over 500 job opportunities are now available for young job seekers in Nipissing-Timiskaming, through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
“Residents aged 15-30 in Nipissing-Timiskaming are going to get the chance to gain meaningful workplace experience that they’ll carry with them for the rest of their lives,” says the Honourable Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming.
“As we start to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to provide the supports young people need to find their way back into the workforce. That is why these investments are so welcoming to our region, to ensure that youth have those opportunities they need to build long and successful careers.”
Over $1.6 million is being invested by the Government of Canada to the riding, supporting 526 jobs, with 223 of those jobs in the not-for-profit sector. Another 240 are in the Private Sector and the final 63 are in the Public Sector.
There are jobs available across the riding, with 200 jobs located in the north end of the riding within the communities of New Liskeard, Temiskaming Shores, Haileybury, Latchford, Cobalt, and Coleman Township.
A further 254 are located either directly in North Bay, or within the surrounding municipalities of Callander, Astorville, Bonfield, Redbridge, and Rutherglen.
Meantime, Mattawa has 27 jobs and Powassan has 20.
“Small business owners in Nipissing-Timiskaming increasingly depend on the contributions of young people who work with them,” says Rota.
“Canada Summer Jobs 2022 has made sure that more youth and employers can apply for and benefit from the initiative.”
Rota says, “Right now, many young people in Nipissing-Timiskaming are looking for safe and secure job opportunities. The Canada Summer Jobs program will be there to help youth earn money, grow professionally, and move forward in their lives. I strongly encourage young people in our area who are looking for work to go to and check out the Canada Summer Jobs opportunities available for them in our community at www.jobbank.gc.ca/youth”
